Jennifer Doelman

Jennifer Doelman is an enthusiastic farmer, agronomist, beekeeper, environmental steward & mom from the Upper Ottawa Valley.
Jennifer farms with her partner, Michael, in Renfrew County, an hour north-west of Ottawa. Proud graduate of the University of Guelph with a degree in Agricultural Science at the University of Guelph, her studies had an emphasis on agronomy and communications. She is also an independent Ontario Certified Crop Advisor (CCA) with the Nutrient Management Specialty and an educator at Algonquin College’s Agri-Business Diploma Program.
Jennifer currently serves as a Director with the Ontario Canola Growers Association, and the Canadian Canola Growers Association as some of the many hats she wears in the agricultural community.
Canola plays an important role on Jenn & Mike’s farm, which aims for a diverse crop rotation that includes traditional crops like corn, fall wheat, and soybeans but spring cereals, forages and cover crops. A beekeeper since 2018, the honeybees have been a very welcome addition to the farm’s diversity, especially as a compliment to canola – the crop and the bees benefit from each other. Winter canola has been more recent addition to the rotation – with some successes and some results that would be best described as ‘learning experiences’.
