Program starts sharp at 9:00am.

Join us for the latest information in these sessions:

Wheat Drone Seeding and Demonstration with Ian DeSchiffart, UoG - Winchester

A look into various planting dates of winter wheat, either into standing soybeans with the drone or planted into soybean stubble with the drill. This talk will look at moisture availability at planting and research surrounding this concern.

Corn Residue Concerns with Soybean Establishment with Iraj Yaghoubian, UoG & Horst Bohner, OMAFA

Residue management and soybean establishment, in particular in no-till soybean planting, create concerns for soybean establishment. These research plots look at varying residue levels at planting in no-till and tilled ground and evaluate success of soybean establishment.

P and K Corn and Soybean Project, Soil Sampling Tips with Adrian Correndo, UoG & Ben Rosser, OMAFA

This will review soil sampling techniques (how many cores/samples, how deep should the sample be, where should it be taken from, etc) and critical soil test values, with the backdrop of the P and K rates applied in corn.

European Corn Borer Management and Monitoring with Josee Kelly

ECB is a pest that can create a lot of damage and harvesting challenges in corn. This project is looking at fall management of corn residue to see how that affects the survival or ECB and therefore future populations and thresholds. There is also monitoring for BT resistance and general ECB pest levels.

Data Collection Technology and Sensors with Ming Chen

This centres around using sensors for collecting data for research, and technical concerns and pittfalls, as well as managing the internet, networking and IT portion of data communication and security.

Station Tour

A station tour will also be included in the day, and we will share how we are supporting crop breeding programs.
